Instagram Reel Transcript Not Working? Common Fixes
Find your Instagram Reel transcript error message and its next step. Check public access, audio, active tasks, free limits and credits before retrying.
If an Instagram Reel link is rejected when you submit it, read the message on the form. If a task was created and then failed, open Transcripts and read its message before retrying. Wait while an existing task is still processing.
The sections below cover the video link, public access, spoken audio and account limits. Start with the one that matches the message you received.
Make sure the link points to one supported video
Open the link you submitted. It should lead to the individual Reel or single video post. If it opens a profile, search page or collection, copy a fresh link from the video itself.
The link form accepts public Reel and single video-post URLs. It cannot process Stories or a post without one supported video.
Confirm the video is public and still available
Confirm that the intended video is still present and public. Try its direct link in a private browser window where you are not signed in to Instagram. A deleted post or login restriction can explain a retrieval problem.
This browser check is a clue, not proof that the service can retrieve the video. A post you can watch in your own account may still be unavailable to the public-link workflow. Choose an accessible video that you own or have permission to process.
Check that the Reel contains spoken audio
Play the Reel with sound and listen for speech. If the voice is quiet or covered by music, note the affected passage. The audio must also be available to the transcription service.
The tool uses spoken audio. If the words you need appear only in the post caption or on screen, copy them separately; they are not part of the audio transcript.
Use the message to choose your next step
These are messages used by Video Script Extractor in English. For a submission error, read the notice on the form; a rejected submission may have no task record. For a failed task, read its message in Transcripts. These messages describe this site, not Instagram’s built-in captions.
A retrieval error and an account limit need different actions. Buying credits does not make a private video accessible, remove an active task or bypass the hourly submission limit.
| Message on this site | Next step |
|---|---|
| Use a public Instagram Reel or single video post. | Copy the direct link to the individual Reel or single video post. A profile or Story link is not supported. |
| The video could not be read. Check that it is public and try again. | Check the original video and public access. If it is still available, a retrieval problem may be temporary; do not repeatedly resubmit while another task is active. |
| This video does not have a readable audio track. | Listen to the source and confirm it has audio. Words shown only on screen cannot be recovered by audio transcription. |
| This video file exceeds the transcription service's size limit. | Use a source within the service’s processing limits; a credit purchase does not change the file-size limit. |
| You already have a video processing. Check its progress below. | Open the existing task in Transcripts and wait for it to finish. An account can have only one active task. |
| You have reached the hourly task limit. Try again later. | Wait before submitting another task. This applies separately from daily free slots and credits. |
| Your 2 free videos for today have been used. Add credits, or return after 00:00 UTC. | Use available credits for another task, or wait for the next UTC day. |
| You’ve reached today’s free attempt limit. Try after 00:00 UTC or add credits to continue. | Free processing has a separate 12-attempt UTC daily cap. A failed free attempt still counts. |
| Today’s free processing capacity has been reached. Try tomorrow or add credits to continue. | Shared free capacity can be unavailable even if you have an unused daily slot. Wait for free capacity or use credits; other limits still apply. |
| The transcription service did not complete this task. | Check that the source is still accessible. Retry after the failed task has finished; contact support if the same message returns. |
Retry after checking the failed task
Wait while a task is queued or processing. After it has failed, check the message, confirm that the link leads to an accessible video with speech, and retry if you have resolved the issue.
For example, if a task reports that the video could not be read, check the public source first. If the next submission reports an active task, return to that record and wait. A retry does not resolve both conditions by itself. This is an illustrative decision path, not a record of a completed support case.
If the same error returns, contact support with the public video link, when you submitted it and the exact message. These details help identify the task. Keep Instagram passwords out of the support request.
