How to Get an Instagram Reel Transcript
Get the spoken words from a public Instagram Reel as a TXT transcript and SRT or VTT subtitles. Follow the steps from video link to download.
Turn the spoken words in a public Instagram Reel into a TXT transcript and timed SRT or VTT subtitles. Video Script Extractor works from the video link, so you do not need to download and upload the video first.
Sign in before starting. The steps below explain how to submit a Reel, download the result and find the saved transcript later.
Copy the link to a public Reel
Open the public Reel you want to transcribe and copy its link. Use the address of the individual video, rather than a profile or an Instagram search page.
Check that the video is still available and contains audible speech. Private or deleted posts cannot be accessed through the public-link workflow.
Sign in, paste the link and start
Open the Instagram transcript tool and sign in. Paste the link, then select Get transcript. Pasting a link by itself does not start the task.
The spoken language is detected automatically. You do not need to choose a language or prepare an audio file.
Download your transcript and subtitles
When the task is ready, select Download all formats. The ZIP contains transcript.txt, transcript.srt and transcript.vtt.
Open TXT for the words alone, or use SRT or VTT when you need subtitle timing. All three files are generated from the saved result; requesting another format does not start another transcription.
Find the saved result in Transcripts
Your account’s tasks appear on the Transcripts page. Search by video title or original link, and filter by status to find a completed result.
If you leave the tool while a task is processing, return to Transcripts to check its status. A ready record lets you download the text and subtitle files again.
The record also keeps the original Instagram link. Download video retrieves the video separately; the transcript ZIP does not contain an MP4.
Check the free allowance and paid credits
Accounts without an active membership have a daily allowance of up to two successful free videos, each up to three minutes long. It resets at 00:00 UTC. Failed tasks do not use a successful free slot. Active members use their membership credits.
Longer videos and extra tasks use paid credits: one credit per started minute. A paid 38-second video uses one credit; a paid video lasting 2 minutes and 1 second uses three. Each video is rounded separately.
Credits are reserved for a paid task and charged only after successful delivery. Failed tasks release their reserved credits. Downloading a finished transcript again, including a different export format or the video, uses no extra processing credits.
There is no fixed video-duration cap. Longer tasks need enough credits for the full video and a source file within the processing limits.
